Brent Faiyaz first entered my belt of amazing music back in 2017, when he featured on "Crew" with Goldlink. He became my favorite artist and like my go to whenever I'm sad, happy, depressed, lit. He is known for being an R&B singer, but personally I don't consider him r&b. He's not a traditionalist, and hopes to remain an Indie artist. He suggests on playing by his own riles and terms. I fell in love with how low key this man was. Everything about from his voice to what he wears, and how he seems in interviews were just so low key and mysterious. Yet, in every song he seems to be pouring out his feelings. He makes tough life stuff sound so sexy. Brent Faiyaz sounds so relatable yet rough.
Last Friday Brent dropped, "Fuck the World", with ten solo tracks.
I SAID ALL TEN TRACKS WERE SOLO! WHO YOU KNOW DO THAT??? I'LL WAIT!
Brent does an interview with the magazine VICE and describes the album of embracing the "good shit" of life. Whether that be sex, money, bullshit.
My favorite track off the album is "Let Me Know". It's a great blend of blending self-love and self consciousness. He is basically is telling a story of how people decriminalize black people and make it seem like we aren't shit. He repeatedly keeps saying "Love can trump it all" which makes me think that love will forever be the answer. Plus his voice is so soothing, like I could fall asleep to it.
I totally recommend listening to this album. "Fuck The World" is on all music platforms! Definitely share with me your favorite song by him on the album.
